Developmental Education: Insuring Academic Success- Live via satellite and the Internet Tuesday, April 18th 1:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m. Room: Sangamon Hall, Room 112 Building upon the strategies put forward at the November 2005 national Developmental Education Summit; this teleconference will deal with actionable ideas to improve developmental education programs. These ideas will include a discussion on the importance of data collection, use and longitudinal tracking, as well as show how and what information to collect. Panelists will explain the latest teaching/learning strategies in such areas as: learning communities, courses, student support services, creating structure, and assessment. The teleconference will also feature video examples from several exemplary college programs and interviews with additional national experts will also be included. *Instruction for viewing the streaming presentation will be sent via email prior to the date of the presentation. ___________________________________________________________________ New Faculty Workshop Series - #5 Library Services for You and Your Students Friday, April 28th 2:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. Room: Sangamon Hall, Room 114 This workshop will feature an introduction to the many library resources available to faculty and students. New print reference sources will be highlighted and the library's article databases (Ebsco, FirstSearch, Lexis-Nexis) will be briefly introduced. Other topics for discussion include online renewal and interlibrary loan procedures, book ordering procedures, and requesting a specialized library instruction session. This workshop will provide an overview of the important planning and pedagogical considerations that need to be made when designing and developing course materials for online delivery.
